The Morrow Cup was held on June 22, 2024, in Imus, Cavite, and organized by the Imus Football Academy (IFA). A total of 60 teams from different age groups joined the tournament.
Morrow Food is beyond proud to have sponsored this event along with DiGi 4/7 Marketing Solutions, Skyline Global Properties, and EastWest Jobs.
It’s truly heartwarming to witness young athletes participate and have fun at the same time. Changes in weather conditions didn’t stop them from competing. The determination in their eyes to win and take home a trophy and medal is undeniable.
Coach Power Valeroso of the IFA said in an interview that, in preparation for the Morrow Cup, their team trains at least four times a week for three months. According to Coach Power, that in every tournament, they encounter both triumphs and losses. If they lose, they have to prepare again. You have to step back, then make at least 3–4 steps forward. He always tells the players, “Never stop fighting.”
As the organizer of the Morrow Cup, Coach Power was happy to see teams from different parts of South Luzon participating in the event. He was also surprised to see a team from Subic Olangapo joining the Morrow Cup. It will be the first time that their team will play against the said team.
Coach Power expresses gratitude to Mr. Oliver Kaerhoeg CEO of Morrow Food and Mr. Ryan Nielsen, President of Nielsen Group for their support. The presence of Mr. Kaerhoeg at the event was a delightful surprise, especially to the young athletes, as they had greatly missed him. Furthermore, he acknowledges the sponsorship from Morrow Food, Digi 4/7, Skyline Global Properties, and EastWest-Jobs for the tournament. He is hopeful about the prospect of organizing a second Morrow Football Cup.
We are given the opportunity to interview Ms. Daisy Parreño, mother of Gabrielle, a player from Las Piñas C.
Gabrielle admires and enjoys watching Lionel Messi, a famous footballer from F.C. Barcelona, according to Ms. Parreño. Their search for a football coach led them to Coach Mike from Las Pinas Football Club, who taught him how to play. Gabrielle, respectfully compare Coach Mike to Lionel Messi, who serves as his inspiration and motivation to play football. Ms. Parreño and Gabrielle are filled with gratitude as they participate in their first tournament. The opportunity to engage in a new activity was truly overwhelming for them. Also, traveling and enjoying the company of their teammates added to their excitement. They appreciate this event immensely and eagerly anticipate more tournaments in the future.
Ms. Karen Candole of Morrow Food said that, just like football, camaraderie and clear communication are important among the organizers. She mentioned the need to articulate expectations, requirements, and deliverables effectively, along with careful planning and coordination with everyone. The experience was described as remarkable and unforgettable, and she is looking forward to doing it again.
Also present at the Morrow Cup are the heads and staff of Morrow Food, DiGi 4/7 Marketing Solutions, Skyline Global Properties, and EastWest Jobs.
The energy, passion, and dedication displayed by all the teams were truly inspiring. Watching young athletes shine on the field and seeing the community come together was an incredible experience.
A big thank you to all the players, coaches, families of the athletes, fans, and volunteers who contributed to making the Morrow Cup a big success.
